Building Healthy Communities Together

Health begins where we live, learn, work, and play

A healthy community is one that provides everyone with the ability to make healthy choices. It’s a place that offers access to affordable housing, transportation, healthy and nutritious foods, recreation, education and employment, medical and social services, clean air and water, all in a safe and inclusive environment.

Our Centre works with the community to address important local issues. These include social isolation, community safety, racism, and poverty. We work in partnership to help people and groups identify and take action on issues important to them.

Beyond specific programs, our dedicated staff regularly visits local schools, community agencies, senior residences, and many other locations in our community. We are actively sharing important health information, useful resources, and practical tools.

Taking LGBT Aging Out of the Closet: Creating community as we age

Our Centre is an active supporter of the Ottawa Senior Pride Network. This diverse group works to ensure safe and LGBT-friendly services and residential environments are available for queer seniors in our community. It plays an active role to create a strong, connected, and visible senior LGTB community in Ottawa. For more information, visit their Facebook page or send an email to ospn.rfao@gmail.com.
