Health Services and Primary Care
Our medical clinic is staffed with a highly skilled interdisciplinary team so that family physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, outreach workers, social workers, dietitians and others can collaborate to provide medical services to registered clients. Working together, this team responds to the factors that impact the health and wellbeing of clients. They ensure that clients receive the best possible care.
Social Support Walk-in
Counselors provide support when urgent personal or social problems happen. We also provide clients with referrals to various programs to help assist low-income individuals and families.
Settlement Counselling
Newcomers to Canada can talk to a settlement counselor to receive help and advice. Settlement counselors from the Ottawa Community Immigrant Services (OCISO) provide answers to questions about immigration, housing, employment, education, economic and social needs, and family issues. Services in: English, Persian, Farsi, and Dari. Check our calendar for dates.
Multicultural Outreach Services
Outreach workers are available to help isolated newcomers connect to community services and adjust to life in Canada. Linking individuals to services and support group programs are part of this outreach services. We provide services in English, Arabic, and Somali.
Home Management Counselling
Individuals learn how to establish a housekeeping routine, develop a budget, manage your time, and solve household problems. Call our Centre to book an appointment.
Coping with stress
All are invited to learn breathing, gentle yoga, meditation and mindfulness practices to help relax the body and quiet the mind. Check our calendar for dates for Meditation and Movement or Coping with Stress programs.
Free Dental Screening Drop-in
People of all ages can access free dental screenings services including dental health information, fluoride varnish applications, and Healthy Smiles Ontario enrolment. Check our calendar for dates. Drop-in services are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Cooking Workshops
All are invited to learn new recipes and culinary techniques. Check our calendar for workshop descriptions, dates and registration details. Registration is required.
Active Living and Fitness Programs
All are invited to join us for our exciting physical activity programming. Check our calendar for program descriptions, dates, and registration details. Registration is required.
Physical Activity Lending Library
Community members can borrow urban-walking poles, pedometres, yoga mats, DVDs, cassettes, video, and books for up to two weeks.
Community Laundry Co-op
The Co-op provides accessible, affordable, environmentally friendly laundry services. Self-service laundry services are available to members at the cost of for 1$ per load. Members also provide commercial laundry services for clients in the community. Visit their website for more information.
Ottawa Good Food Box
This is a city-wide program coordinated by our centre. Customers can purchase a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables at wholesale prices by placing monthly orders. The box is available in 3 sizes: $10, $15, and $20. Emphasis is placed on buying seasonal produce that’s grown as close to home as possible. Voicemail Program
Many people use voicemail to stay in contact with friends, family, or to look for a job or a place to live. Even if you don’t have a phone, you can obtain a personal voicemail number at a low cost of 10$ for three months of service.
Legal Advice Drop-in Clinic
Access to free expert legal advice in English. This service provided in partnership with the University of Ottawa offers a drop-in clinic for people with low-income. Service is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Check our calendar for dates.
