Letter to Candidates

April 2013

Attention: Community Members

We are seeking candidates for the Centretown Community Health Centre Board of Directors. The enclosed information provides an overview, which may help you or someone you may know decide whether to stand for election to the Board at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 25, 2013.

CCHC is committed to the health and well‑being of all people within the communities we serve. CCHC provides a full range of health and social services to individuals and families who live in Old Ottawa South, the Glebe and Centretown. We also offer specialized services to all residents of the broader Ottawa region.

The Board provides leadership and operates on a policy and strategic level rather than from an operational or management focus. With this orientation, the Board is involved in creating a vision and goals for the organization, setting strategic directions and helping to ensure that the goals of the organization are met. Board members serve two-year terms. Typically this involves a commitment of eight to twelve hours per month.

Board action teams are formed as needed and may be composed of board members, staff and, wherever possible, community members with experience and knowledge related to the particular issue involved.  The action teams carry out the work of the Board to reflect our strategic priorities. We have three established action teams, one on advocacy, another on board development  and  the other on quality improvement and we also  organize others as needed.

CCHC will be holding an open house on Wednesday, May 22nd from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. for anyone interested in learning more about becoming a volunteer for the CCHC Board of Directors – all are welcome to attend. If you are interested in running for a position on the CCHC Board, you will be asked to complete an on-line survey by Friday, June 7, 2013 at noon. Printed copies of the survey will be available. At the All-Candidates’ meeting on Tuesday, June 11th from 5:00 – 5:45 p.m. candidates will have the opportunity to meet and speak with current board members as well as learn more about the election process. For more information, please contact Alison at 233-4443, ext. 2106.

Yours sincerely,

Jeff Morrison, President

Board of Directors
