About the Program

The purpose of this group is to support and empower participants who struggle with feeling anxious or depressed. It aims to provide participants facilitated support, connection with people that have similar lived experience, and an opportunity to learn new skills for responding to anxiety and/or depression.

Additional Details

Time commitment: The group meets online on Tuesdays at 12 PM (noon), with each session lasting an hour and a half. We ask that group members commit to all six sessions to optimize group cohesion and to benefit everyone involved.


Group size and format:  This online group is limited to 12 participants. This is a skills-based group, which includes psychoeducation and supportive discussion. Time dedicated to discussing individual experiences is limited. 


Group sessions activities include video presentation, large and smaller group discussion, individual reflection questions and optional readings.


Objectives:

  • Help participants understand risk factors, challenges and myths surrounding anxiety and depression

  • Increase participants’ ability to notice and identify difficult feelings

  • Grow awareness of behaviours as helpful or unhelpful in responding to difficult feelings

  • Highlight individual strengths, practices and values that could support participants' goals related to overcoming anxiety and depression

  • Learn to incorporate self-compassion and mindfulness practices to support mental health
